31 enthusiastic members of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Club from Shramjit Kishor School in Lalitpur visited the Mitra Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center (MDRRLC). This visit aimed to provide students with practical knowledge and skills to effectively respond to various disaster situations, with a particular focus on the unique challenges faced in Nepal.

During their visit, the students were introduced to various types of natural and human-made disasters that are prevalent in Nepal. They gained a comprehensive understanding of the causes, impacts, and preventive measures associated with each disaster.

One of the highlights of the visit was the hands-on training session on first aid. The students learned vital skills such as:

  • Administering first aid during bleeding and fractures

  • Understanding the use of a bed sheet stretcher

  • Recognizing the need and importance of using a bed sheet stretcher in emergency situations

  • Learning about the emergency tool kit and importance of preparation of it during emergency 

The visit to the Mitra Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center was an invaluable experience for the students of Shramjit Kishor School. It not only enhanced their knowledge of disaster risk reduction but also equipped them with essential first aid skills that could save lives during emergencies. The school and the learning center continue to collaborate in efforts to build a more resilient and prepared community. These Club members will be sharing these knowledge back to their school.
