In a significant effort to enhance disaster risk reduction (DRR) education, DEPO (Disaster Education Promotion Organization) conducted a transformative 4-day training session in Chaurajahari, Rukum. The training, held for educators and community members working in local schools, focused on introducing gamification techniques to make disaster preparedness learning more engaging and effective.

A total of 32 enthusiastic participants from various schools across Chaurajahari attended the hands-on workshop, which provided an in-depth introduction to using games as a tool for teaching disaster risk reduction. The goal of the training was to empower educators and community members to incorporate fun, interactive, and practical learning methods into their disaster education programs, making complex concepts more accessible and memorable for students.

Throughout the training, participants designed and developed their own educational games tailored to disaster risk scenarios, applying the gamification principles they learned. These games were then tested in real-world classrooms, allowing participants to observe how their students responded to the interactive learning experience. By actively engaging students with games that simulate disaster situations, educators were able to see the impact of these techniques in fostering better understanding and preparedness.

The DEPO training not only equipped teachers and community members with new skills but also fostered a sense of collaboration and creativity. Participants left with valuable tools to integrate into their teaching practices, ensuring that disaster risk reduction education in Chaurajahari will be both effective and engaging for students. This initiative stands as a model for how gamification can play a key role in building a safer and more resilient future for communities at risk of disasters.
