Deepak Marahatta is a dedicated development professional with over a decade of experience in disaster risk reduction (DRR) education, climate change adaptation (CCA), circular economy, environmental education, research, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E). As the Founder and Chairperson of the Disaster Education Promotion Office (DEPO) Nepal and the Mitra Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Centre (MDRRLC), he has been at the forefront of advancing disaster education, community resilience, and sustainable development.
With extensive experience in project leadership, Deepak has served as the National Project Coordinator for the JICA-funded School Club-Based Resilient Community Model Project and Director of Global Affairs at the Resilience Youth Network (RYN), USA. He has played a pivotal role in designing educational games, IEC materials, training manuals, and curricula on DRR, CCA, circular economy, and environmental education.
Beyond Nepal, Deepak has contributed to international knowledge exchange and capacity-building initiatives in the USA, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Norway, and India. He is passionate about fostering global partnerships, facilitating policy dialogues, and equipping communities with practical, innovative, and scalable solutions for disaster resilience and climate adaptation.
