On the auspicious occasion of its 5th anniversary, Mitra Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Learning Center, the first and the only disaster preparedness center in Nepal proudly celebrated half a decade of commitment and excellence in disaster preparedness and education. The milestone was marked by an extraordinary event held at the center, bringing together esteemed guests, partners, and the community to reflect on the past and look forward to the future.
The celebration saw the gracious presence of Mr. MATSUZAKI Mizuki, the newly appointed Chief Representative of JICA Nepal Office. His attendance highlighted the ongoing support and collaboration between the center and international bodies dedicated to disaster risk reduction.
The event was further honored by representatives from the DRR section of Lalitpur Metropolitan, and various I/NGOs actively working in the disaster-related field. Their participation underscored the collaborative efforts essential for building resilient communities.
A significant highlight of the celebration was the involvement of young minds from various municipalities. Students from Chandragiri Municipality and Bhaktapur Municipality observed the educational DRR game activities, designed to impart critical knowledge and skills in an engaging and interactive manner. The enthusiastic participation of students from Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Chandragiri, and Shankharapur in performing DRR game activities at the new school showcased the center's commitment to nurturing disaster-prepared communities.
The event was a testament to the center's impact over the past five years and its vision for the future. It was a wonderful session filled with learning, collaboration, and a shared commitment to enhancing disaster preparedness and resilience.
The Mitra Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants and partners for their continued support and dedication. Together, we look forward to many more years of making a meaningful difference in the lives of communities across Nepal.
