As part of the 2025 Disaster Early Warning Project, two separate one-day disaster preparedness trainings were recently held in Dakshinkali Municipality of Kathmandu and Mahankal Rural Municipality of Lalitpur. These sessions aimed to strengthen community resilience by equipping local residents with the skills to protect themselves and their neighbors
in the face of a disaster.

Participants gained knowledge in basic first aid, developing practical abilities that can save lives during emergencies. The training featured a hands-on demonstration showing how to create makeshift stretchers from locally available materials, highlighting the importance of resourceful thinking in situations of crisis.

To make the learning process more interactive and memorable, facilitators also incorporated engaging educational games, helping participants to internalize key preparedness concepts in a fun and engaging way.

This program was made possible through the support of the China Foundation for Rural Development, with training facilitated by DEPO. By empowering local people with practical life-saving skills, we are helping build a stronger foundation of preparedness that will serve these communities well into the future.
