In 2024, a group of 8 dedicated school teachers from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chandragiri and Shankharapur embarked on an eye-opening journey to Kobe and Yokohama, Japan, as part of the Disaster Education Visit Group II. The visit offered them a unique opportunity to explore Japan's cutting-edge strategies for disaster risk reduction (DRR) and the country's visionary approach to education.

One of the highlights of the trip was their visit to the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Learning Centers in both cities, where they gained firsthand experience of Japan's proactive and innovative disaster preparedness initiatives. From earthquake simulations to tsunami response systems, the teachers were immersed in practical learning about how Japan’s infrastructure, technology, and education systems work together to mitigate the impact of disasters on its citizens.

In addition to their exploration of disaster preparedness, the teachers also visited schools in Kobe and Yokohama. They were deeply inspired by Japan’s forward-thinking educational philosophy, which aims to equip children not only with academic knowledge but also with the resilience, creativity, and critical thinking skills necessary to thrive in an uncertain world. Teachers observed how schools emphasize values such as teamwork, empathy, and social responsibility, fostering an environment where children are prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.

This enriching experience left a lasting impression on the visiting educators, who are now better equipped to integrate disaster preparedness education and forward-thinking values into their own classrooms. The journey exemplified Japan's unwavering commitment to building a safer, more resilient future through both education and disaster preparedness.

Through this visit, the teachers gained valuable insights that will benefit not only their personal development but also the educational systems they serve. The collaborative exchange of ideas between Japan and international educators holds the promise of building a more prepared and hopeful tomorrow for students worldwide.

Let's start a project.

It will be fun. Let's gather awesome experience.
